Moo Times of Betsy, Episode 3: The Ocarina Cow is now available for download!

Hola everyone! I’m pleased to announce that after a month of testing, scripting, and creating the assets, I’m proud to say that my third episode is now live on my itch.io profile! Creating the game was a challenge as I was dealing with my full-time job and parental duties, but I’m very proud of the results.

Synopsis

Chibi Betsy has a dream - to be the greatest ocarina player! With the help from her mother and her owners, she ends up winning the contest hosted by the mysterious Ocarina Cow. Things take a different turn as they're transported to an unknown area and discover the truth about Chibi Betsy's favorite music idol.

For this year’s NaNoRenO game jam, I decided to focus on Betsy’s daughter as she recently was introduced last year in the Lotus Cow Comics series. As some of you may know, I’m an ocarina player and have my own YouTube channel dedicated to my music covers. While I don’t consider myself to be a great musician, I’ve always enjoyed playing music on the ocarina.

The moral behind the story is about following your heart and do what’s right. As this game has two different endings, players have the option to choose the beloved cow’s fate.

Some facts behind the development of the game:

The original story was written by me using Day One journal.
Character and object sprites and the main menu GUI were created with Procreate.
Music was created through Garageband. I used my triple chamber ocarina to record the sound samples through BandLab and my keytar for recording some samples.
Backgrounds were from Unsplash and edited using ibis Paint X.
Fonts are from Google.

This year’s game jam was a bit personal as I found out that my childhood friend passed away during the month of March. As I remember my friend being creative and full of sunshine, I decided to dedicate this in memory of her.

Many thanks to my dear husband who reviewed my game and giving me feedback while testing it. He didn’t want to see the sad ending of the game, because he loved the characters too much 😅
